Greeting from Bulgaria

I haven't update on postcard quite sometimes have I?

So, here's one piece I received from Bulgaria with its national cuisines all over the postcard. Thanks Gergana for making me salivating while looking at each of the food. All them look tasty and perfect for 'berbuka puasa' :)

Which one looks appealing to you?
Me? - number 5 ("Shahlik") and 2 ("Drob sarma") :')

If you notice, mostly the dishes are oven baked, steamed, stew-like and grilled. No deep frying - talk about healthy food here. IMHO, they look similar to Middle East food don't they? It must be the influence from Turkey which also its neighbour country.

So here is where Bulgaria is.

p/s: this weekend i'm cooking my favourite dish when in Java recently. I received the ingredient all the way from Indonesia :) Wait for the post.

Greeting from Belarus!

Thanks Dmitry for the lovely postcards!
I received so many postcards recently, will update them following sequence they arrived in my post box.

These are from Belarus :D

I'm sure you know Belarus, no? But, if today is the 1st time u heard of it, let's learn some little facts about this republic together :) 

Let's start with its location on the world map.

Belarus or officially Republic of Belarus is in Eastern Europe and is one of 47 landlocked countries. What is landlocked country u ask?
If u can notice from the map, Belarus is bordered by Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. The entire country is enclosed by land with no coastline. That's landlocked country.

The capital city is Minsk.

Belarus people are called Belarusians and the official languages are Belarusian and Russian. Learn from now if u plan to visit.

They eat little during breakfast and enjoy big meal during dinner. You might need to take the dinner you've been skipping for diet while in Belarus :) 

They eat potatoes, bread, pork and beef. Most of the products are organic, they check radiation constantly to avoid food contamination.  

Belarusian alphabet is based on Cyrillic script. *I need a phrase book!

Airport - Minsk National Airport or also known as Minsk 2 Airport.

Some corrupt hotel may practice 'legal theft', an annoying way of stealing :( 
Housekeeper will hide your personal belonging in the most outrageous part of your room while cleaning. If you didn't notice your belonging gone missing, well, it will become theirs after you left. And if you report items missing or you managed to find them by yourself, u can't do anything much since your items are not actually leaving the room, it's not consider a theft. Mmmm...as cunning as a fox!

However, don't let that stop you from visiting. Some interesting things to do are hole fishing when Minsk Sea is completely frozen and visit Khatyn Memorial.

Greeting from Nami Island!

It took almost 3 weeks for this piece to reach my home address.

It's not a self-address postcard but from someone who went to Seoul recently. Someone I lent Korean phrasebook to. And it was from this blog I gotta know her. Thanks Nana :D

I was touched when she made an effort to send one to me from Nami Island as she couldn't find post office in Seoul. And with that, I got a Naminara Republic stamps on my postcard! U see, although Naminara Republic is an imaginary country but it has its own national flag, anthem, passport, postage stamps, currency etc like other republics have. The stamps usually have national flag and the famous Nami Island image (I got both!). Its flag could be mistaken to some Islamic countries with crescent and star-like but they actually potray the oriental sentiment and environmentally-friendly image of Nami Island. Read more here.

Greeting from Sydney!

I never expect I would receive another postcard the next day after Queenstown postcard arrived. The view of Sydney Harbour at dusk is beautiful just like postcard usually has but knowing u too have a beautiful heart to keep sending postcard to me is some of the many things I appreciate. Let's keep it that way Fatt. And let's keep travelling ok?

I received another postcard to add to my collection last week :)
It's a postcard from Queenstown where Fatt went and stayed for many weeks.
Queenstown from the postcard doesn't seems like a big town but the mountains behind are fantastic! So in love!

Greeting from Kota Kinabalu

Alhamdulillah, back from my year-end trip :D

So, officially I received another postcard to pair with my 1st one...all the way from Kota Kinabalu. 




This time, I didn't get the chance to post myself the postcard as I had travel partner, Sayra. We sent each other postcard with our own personal remark on the trip and promised each other to not peeking on what was written :') I had fun writing to her although she was standing right next to me, doing the same as I did. For those who gave their addresses, I hope by now u have received them and how I wished u were there having fun with me too.

Kota Kinabalu has MANY great places, I'll share on my next entry ok. But of all, I chose Mount Kinabalu for my postcard. Reason being was to remind myself to come again and conquer peak of this majestic mountain. Someone has made an offer to climb on 2012. Any taker to join me?

Greeting from Perth!

It's December already!
Another month to 2011. I hope some of your 2010 resolutions are achieved if not all. If u must know, this blog existence is one of my long list of 2010 resolutions :D *I deserve a pat on my back*

Other resolution just became reality recently. Or it'd be more of get initiated, my MANYYYYY years back resolution which I failed to do every other year. Thanks to Fatt for sending me postcard from Perth during your recent trip! Western Australia is undoubtedly beautiful and gorgeous. Do write about it soon.

I always plan to send myself a postcard from countries I visited but never ever find an initiative to find a post office to make that happen. Postcard can be easily available especially near tourist area but finding a post office is always left out from the itinerary ;p

With this single achievement (although from other person hehe), I hope there will be many other coming to the collection and post office will be a must-go place during travelling in the future. If u think u can help me in my effort, I'm willing to send u my address. In return, I'll be more than happy to send one to add to your collection if u are an avid collector (or not) whenever i'm out of town/country :') I'm going to Sabah in less than 2 weeks, send your address now if you're interested.
